Can Integration Just Feel Good Already?Sometimes I think that we're the architects of our own suffering, even on our quest for healing. We procedurally generate more and more problems for ourselves. Procedural generation is a computer term. It's when we use algorithms and computer code to create data. It's why you can scroll social media endlessly and continue to see content that you're somewhat interested in. Picture an endless, computer-generated world filled with trees and mountains, and the more you navigate through it, the more random landscapes you see. It never ends. I think it's the same with your problems. We know the old new age saying, "Energy flows where attention goes." Well, we in the psychedelic space sure do spend a lot of time giving our attention to our shadows, don't we? We fill magical grimoires with IFS parts. Each new part costs like two hundred and fifty bucks. There is no shortage of sad inner children. We treat them like Pokémon, gotta catch'em all. It will keep you busy, because every three or four years, they release another hundred or so. There were 151 original Pokémon in 1996, and now there are 1028. Big business, these pocket monsters. TLDR; When we go looking for issues, we find them. If we can't find them, we make them up. We hate to disappoint ourselves, it seems. If we expect fear, shame, and guilt because we don't know who we would be without them, then fear, shame, and guilt we will have. It's just easier. We sit in meditation, psychedelic or otherwise, trying to solve problems that we created. How do you solve an imaginary problem? Stop engaging. Do something different than just trying to solve emotional pain. Maybe practice feeling good for a change. This is why, in our parts work, it's handy to generate a resourceful part that is capable of giving love to the wounded part. If for no other reason than it introduces love into the system. It's a bridge. It's a bridge into love. It's a bridge into feeling good. Can we just sit with that for a time? Can we sit with a part of ourselves that is content? Can we somatically experience a part of our body that is peaceful, soft, and expansive? Can we resist the temptation to solve the same problems over and over again? And instead sit in the solution of the now. Resist the urge to problem-solve. And just feel good. Enjoy yourself. Relax. We're not good at feeling good. We need practice. The more we practice, the better we'll be at it. The more we might entrench the feeling good habit. Caveat. Now I don't know you. You might have some serious shit going on right now, and you might need to be feeling some rough emotions. There might be some really real issues that need some dealing with. It's funny, just as I was writing this, I got Sophie Strand's email blast. It's called, "Survivor's Fury." And that's what it's about. It's a more powerful piece of writing than mine, and I'm ok with that. It's certainly a different perspective, and written with a different audience in mind. So if this email left you a little flat, or even furious, check out hers. Integrative Change Takes a Ton of Energy - The Kundalini Awakening The Kundalini Awakening. Maybe you've heard of it. It's a fairly common psychedelic experience. There is an experience of cosmic energy shooting up the spine and reaching the head, where it then expands or blossoms. Usually, an explosion of enlightened insight accompanies it. It doesn't last, and unfortunate are the souls that think it means more than it does. Most people simply don't have the energy to maintain this...
Scarcity and Risk in Your Psychedelic Experiences Sometimes I'm hesitant to use the word scarcity because it shows up so often in the 'manifestation coaching' space. You know, folks who tell you that your business isn't working because of your scarcity mindset. That might be part of it, but I don't think it's ever the whole issue. But what I mean when I talk about scarcity in the psychedelic space is that psychedelics are rare and hard to come by. For most folks anyway. If you aren't...
Integration Circle Burnout - a New Time for Meetups I've been leading free integration circles regularly for over 8 years. First monthly in person in Marin, then weekly online when the pandemic hit. It's rewarding. I've made lasting friendships. People in the circles have made lasting friendships. Folks have let me know that they've really helped and supported them. They've been special. But a year or so ago, I got a little burned out on them. I guess it happens sometimes. I've got to be...
