I Wish You a Happy Hibernation - Red Things on Tuesday

I Wish You a Happy Hibernation

It's bear time here in New England. It's hibernation time.

Hibernation makes sense to me. Staying in bed all winter, getting cozy, reading together, maybe a little sledding, these are a few of my favorite things. Or, as the snow-bound Shirley Nash famously advised, "Eat bread and desserts and get all fat and sassy."

Winter is a great time for slowness and stillness.

I don't know anything about snakes and horses. I like the Chinese New Year, It was always fun to see the displays in the airports. For some reason when we were young, we found ourselves travelling a lot in February.

But I can't pretend to know why the year of the horse means anything different from the year of the snake.

But the season of the bear, well that's good stuff.

Especially in the face of our hustle culture's insistence on new year's resolutions, grinding in to the new year.

Especially when we see the people we know who haven't changed one bit since high school post, "New Year, New Me."

We'll see!

Perhaps you can celebrate the new year with me by doing a whole lot of nothing. (except maybe coaching training, of course)

Perhaps I can give you permission to really, really take it easy.

I'm reminded of a quote from A Course in Miracles that a friend of mine use to share like a personal mantra, "You need do nothing."

How wild is it that we think we need to do so much to be ok. To be loveable. When it's entirely possible we need do nothing.

Perhaps our resolution can be to remember that we are all we need, and we need do nothing.

The Tam Integration Coaching Training Program

Coaching Training starts February 3rd and runs through the end of June. You'll learn how to work with polarities, paradoxes, and mysteries. You'll sit in the silence and the weirdness until it feels like home. You'll delve into your mind, and the minds of your classmates, and come out kinder and wiser for it.

The program offers a wide range of tools & coaching models that give you the framework you need to make use of your gifts.

  • Create a coaching practice that can be sustainable
  • Gain powerful skills in mindfulness and somatics
  • Work with material that arises in psychedelic space
  • Create confidence through artful preparation

Training Modules include:

  • Client Discovery, Intake, and Onboarding
  • Coaching and Space Holding Methodology
  • Mindful & Somatic Psychedelic Preparation
  • Understanding and Overcoming Patterns

The Golden Road

The Golden Road has evolved into a wonderful group of practitioners. The wonderful people who show up share not only their journeys, but the journeys of those they steward. It's become a place of learning, support, accountability, and peer review. Folks are learning some things from me, but they are also learning from each other. We all face unique challenges as we work in this space, and it's great to have a place where we can bring them for non-judgmental feedback and reflection. You're invited. Click here to join!

The sensitive stuff isn't recorded; that's just for those of us in the room, but there are many teachings that are. There is a growing collection of masterclasses designed for coaches, guides, and therapists. Here are some of the upcoming live masterclasses:

The Wisdom of the Chakras as a Clearing Tool with Carla Detchon
January 5th • Noon to 1:30pm Pacific Time. 3:00pm - 4:30pm EST
Join the Golden Road, or just
register for this single event here.

Our chakras hold energy, information and so much wisdom, but we typically don't tend to them or clear them out. In this class, you'll learn a simple system that can be used during a client session (psychedelic or not) to walk them though a clearing process, removing old, stuck patterns, wounds, negative beliefs and other deeply buried baggage that keeps us from having a clean and clear energetic channel. Clearing the chakras allows us to remove old fears, awaken our desires, know our heart and speak our truths. Clients will feel lighter, focused, with more access to their somatic wisdom. Chakra clearing is a simple tool that can help shift clients out of difficult situations, focus awareness on long-buried issues running their internal system while also connecting them to their inner knowing and divinity.

Carla Detchon has been exploring the world of psychedelics for more than 40 years. For 22 of those years, she worked with psychedelic icon and elder, Ralph Metzner, as well as another revered female elder trained by The Secret Chief, Leo Zeff. She recently came above ground with her psychedelic knowledge in her own podcast, Psychedelic Divas, where she demystifies the world of psychedelics through the wisdom of the divine feminine.

As a Life Coach for over 20 years, Carla helps clients integrate transformational time periods in their lives such as psychedelic experiences, mid-life crises, divorce or career transitions, using energy tools, guided meditations and integration practices.

Dust off your integration one more time, make it shine The boy jumped in bed at 630 this morning. He curled up under the covers and didn’t say anything. I rubbed his back for a moment and then sat up, taking the opportunity to meditate. I like when we get a chance to sit quietly together, it doesn’t happen much. He’s energetic. The nervous system experts love to talk about co-regulation. About how vibing together is a great practice. That’s how the morning started, just vibing and breathing....

Integration is the Bridge Between Vision and Reality Our Psychedelic Visions rarely survive first contact with reality. Sometimes, in our journeys, we have grand visions and ideas, amazing plans for the future. However, more often than not, they melt away when the light hits them. Sometimes we expect the seas to part for us like we're Moses. Or that, like Kevin Costner, they will come if we build it. Rarely is this the case. The world doesn't owe it to us to make our sacred mission easy. Some...

When In Doubt, See if There's Something You Can Relax - Red Things on Tuesday This is one of the best pieces of advice I've gotten from a psychedelic guide, "When in doubt, relax." When I'm upset, something is tight. When I'm in conflict with someone, or myself, something is tight. When I'm ruminating, perseverating, or looping uncreatively, something is tight. There is a tension in my body that I can literally use as a barometer to determine if my thoughts are helpful. If it's tight,...
