Integration and Change takes Energy and Awareness - Red Things on Tuesday

Integrative Change Takes a Ton of Energy - The Kundalini Awakening

The Kundalini Awakening.

Maybe you've heard of it. It's a fairly common psychedelic experience. There is an experience of cosmic energy shooting up the spine and reaching the head, where it then expands or blossoms. Usually, an explosion of enlightened insight accompanies it.

It doesn't last, and unfortunate are the souls that think it means more than it does.

Most people simply don't have the energy to maintain this enlightened view. They don't have the energy required to dismantle all of their deeply entrenched habits. They don't have the energy that it takes to interrupt their negative, repetitive thought patterns.

From this perspective, the kundalini perspective, our human bodies are an energetic system seeking increased flow and cohesion. At present, it is full of knots, blockages, and vortexes. We have plenty of energy, but most of it is bound up in patterns of fear, attachment, and misunderstanding. This is what practices like yoga and tai chi seek to ammerliorate. This is the thought behind accupuncture. This is why everyone is so crazy about 'breathwork.'

Before breathwork hit the scene, we were all just doing pranayama. The sanskrit and the tantric roots weren't sanitized out of the whole process. Depending on how you translate it, prana means breath or vital energy. Prana isn't exactly the breath, but it's the vitality in the breath. Yama means restraint or control. Ayama means expansion. So, breath control, energy expansion. something like that. You get it.

On any given day, a human has just about enough energy to digest their food, maintain their body temperature, grow their hair and nails, and do the tasks they need to pay the rent. There isn't a lot extra for things like conscious evolution and transformative change. We don't have the energy to create new positive habits, we don't have the energy to stop persistant negative habits.

That requires an entire reorganization of our energetic system. That requires enough energy to break through the long-standing energetic barriers that we've been fortifying over the course of our entire lives.

This is what I see when someone tells me, "I can't get to the gym," or "I can't leave the job that's killing me," or as Jane famously says, "I'm going to kick tomorrow."

It's really, really hard to coach someone into doing a thing they can't do. It's much easier to coach someone into cultivating free, flowing energy, or to coach them to dissolve blocked energy and move stagnant energy.

Maharajji told Ram Dass about psychedelics, "They give you a glimpse of heaven, but you can't stay."

This is what he meant. You may get a glimpse of the life you can lead if you reorganize your energy system. You may even get a little bit of purification of the sludgier bits of your channels. You may get a window of time when your neuro is a little more plastic and change is easier. But if you want to create change, it's going to take some energy. You'll have to cultivate your energy. Nobody can do that part for you.

I'm Gonna Kick Tomorrow

We've all said it. We didn't have the shakti to make it happen.

~ The Golden Road - Mentorship, Peer Support, Supervision, and Skill Building for Serious Psychonauts and Healing Professionals

The Golden Road has evolved into a wonderful group of practitioners.

We meet every Thursday at noon eastern.

There is also a large archive (over 200 hours) of psychedelic education and past talks.

The wonderful people who show up share not only their journeys, but the journeys of those they steward. It's become a place of learning, support, accountability, and peer review. Folks are learning some things from me, but they are also learning from each other. We all face unique challenges as we work in this space, and it's great to have a place where we can bring them for non-judgmental feedback and reflection. You're invited. Click here to join

Golden Road is a group of coaches and guides that are growing their practices and coming together in the spirit of personal and professional peer support. You also get some teaching and Q&A with yours truly. The main group meeting is Thursdays at noon Eastern. Here's the link to that.

Scarcity and Risk in Your Psychedelic Experiences Sometimes I'm hesitant to use the word scarcity because it shows up so often in the 'manifestation coaching' space. You know, folks who tell you that your business isn't working because of your scarcity mindset. That might be part of it, but I don't think it's ever the whole issue. But what I mean when I talk about scarcity in the psychedelic space is that psychedelics are rare and hard to come by. For most folks anyway. If you aren't...

Integration Circle Burnout - a New Time for Meetups I've been leading free integration circles regularly for over 8 years. First monthly in person in Marin, then weekly online when the pandemic hit. It's rewarding. I've made lasting friendships. People in the circles have made lasting friendships. Folks have let me know that they've really helped and supported them. They've been special. But a year or so ago, I got a little burned out on them. I guess it happens sometimes. I've got to be...

Is Your Energy Being Harvested at the Festival? I've seen posts on social media lately where people are claiming that festivals are nefarious places designed to harvest your vital energy. Spooky. Woogity Boogity. I don't know what kind of festivals you've been going to. I'm doubtful. I was at a couple of Phish concerts at Madison Square Garden over the weekend. 20,000+ people. Two nights. Lights, Sound, Old Friends, the works. And I started thinking to myself, "Is my energy being harvested,...
