Divine Mercy and the World Cup

I'm not a biblical scholar, and I don't usually watch the World Cup.

But there I was, watching Spain and Argentina play ball, while I was regaled with tales of grace and love and mercy. Something called "The 13 Attributes of Mercy" to be precise.

This is pretty much the way I want to watch sports. Plenty of snacks, spiritual dialogue, and a mesmerizing little ball for my eyes to follow around.

I'm not going to bore you with a long lecture on concepts I just discovered two days ago. I'll keep it short. You can explore them on your own if you like. I'll find you a link or two.

My big takeaway was that there is an infinite amount of compassion, grace, forgiveness, and understanding emanating from the wisdom center of the universe. It's there for us before we screw up. It's there while we're screwing up, and it's there for us after we screw up. There is no expectation that we're not going to screw up. It's understood, and doesn't mean that we are ever separated from grace.

We can practice these attributes. We can become more forgiving; we can become slower to anger.

I'm thinking that contemplation on these attributes would be a lovely way to prepare for a journey as well.

Many of us replay our mistakes in our journeys, and some people tend to be very hard on themselves. People often talk to me about feeling irredeemable. The inner critic takes up all the headspace. What if we practiced focusing on the compassion and forgiveness that are essential qualities of the existence? Might we have more conscious access to it when it matters most? It just might.

Breathwork and Emotional Clearing for Psychedelic Integration Training Weekend

November 6-8, I'll be co-leading a weekend in San Francisco with one of my dear friends, Alyce Bacine. We became friends at the local yoga studio in 2001, and have both been doing our things ever since. We'll be training practioners how to show up for and support the clearing of big emotions in preparation, journey, and integration. Learn practice to keep you grounded when things get weird.
