Is Your Energy Being Harvested at the Festival? - Red Things on Tuesday

Is Your Energy Being Harvested at the Festival?

I've seen posts on social media lately where people are claiming that festivals are nefarious places designed to harvest your vital energy.

Spooky. Woogity Boogity.

I don't know what kind of festivals you've been going to. I'm doubtful.

I was at a couple of Phish concerts at Madison Square Garden over the weekend. 20,000+ people. Two nights. Lights, Sound, Old Friends, the works. And I started thinking to myself, "Is my energy being harvested, and I just don't know it?"

My first thought was, 'Well, maybe it's a trade. I've willingly given them my money (green energy). I'm dancing, so I'm expending energy there. I'm cheering and clapping. All outputs of energy. All consensual. And in return, I get joy. I'm happy, I feel connected, I feel safe to be myself. I don't feel taken advantage of in the slightest. I don't think there is like some spooky entity robbing me of my vitality.

But then the fog machines kick in, and I think I can see something. Something that wants my energy....

I've been dancing for a little bit, so I'm half in a visionary state. And there she is. But she's not evil. There's no manipulation or betrayal, or Machiavellian intent.

The voice comes through the fog, "Let me take that. What are you holding onto that for anyway?"

I notice this black sludgy thing in my chest. A swirl of stuck energy, mixed with all manner of unpleasant emotions. Fear, anger, you name it.

What am I holding onto that for, indeed?

I throw my hands up into the air as I continue dancing, "Well, go ahead then, take it."

As the music continues to play, it swirls out of me and is absorbed by the fog. I'm left feeling brighter and lighter.

I've been harvested, by golly. And I've never felt better.

What is stuck in you? Is there energy in your body that's just not doing you any good? Where is it? What could you allow to be harvested, recycled, or composted?

The Golden Road - Mentorship, Peer Support, Supervision, and Skill Building for Serious Psychonauts and Healing Professionals

The Golden Road has evolved into a wonderful group of practitioners.

We meet every Thursday at noon eastern, and there are monthly masterclasses as well.

There is also a large archive (over 200 hours) of psychedelic education and past talks.

The wonderful people who show up share not only their journeys, but the journeys of those they steward. It's become a place of learning, support, accountability, and peer review. Folks are learning some things from me, but they are also learning from each other. We all face unique challenges as we work in this space, and it's great to have a place where we can bring them for non-judgmental feedback and reflection. You're invited. Click here to join

Golden Road is a group of coaches and guides that are growing their practices and coming together in the spirit of personal and professional peer support. You also get some teaching and Q&A with yours truly. The main group meeting is Thursdays at noon Eastern. Here's the link to that.

Breathwork and Emotional Clearing for Psychedelic Integration Training Weekend

November 6-8, I'll be co-leading a weekend in San Francisco with one of my dear friends, Alyce Bacine. We became friends at the local yoga studio in 2001, and have both been doing our things ever since. We'll be training practioners how to show up for and support the clearing of big emotions in preparation, journey, and integration. Learn practice to keep you grounded when things get weird. There will be a virtual aspect, and 3 days of in person training. This will be awesome. Stay tuned, more details to come.

Integration Circle Burnout - a New Time for Meetups I've been leading free integration circles regularly for over 8 years. First monthly in person in Marin, then weekly online when the pandemic hit. It's rewarding. I've made lasting friendships. People in the circles have made lasting friendships. Folks have let me know that they've really helped and supported them. They've been special. But a year or so ago, I got a little burned out on them. I guess it happens sometimes. I've got to be...

Divine Mercy and the World Cup I'm not a biblical scholar, and I don't usually watch the World Cup. But there I was, watching Spain and Argentina play ball, while I was regaled with tales of grace and love and mercy. Something called "The 13 Attributes of Mercy" to be precise. This is pretty much the way I want to watch sports. Plenty of snacks, spiritual dialogue, and a mesmerizing little ball for my eyes to follow around. I'm not going to bore you with a long lecture on concepts I just...

I Thought I Already Dealt With That! Psychedelics and the Eternal Issue We asked 100 psychonauts what surprised them on a recent journey. Survey Says! In the top five has got to be "I thought I dealt with that already." We've got issues, you and I. All of us. And while we often think we've 'done the work' or 'cleared it', that's rarely the case. Not 100% anyway. We've got issues that linger. It reminds me of the old Eddie Murphy punchline, "You keep that for life, like luggage." Boy, I wish...
