Take a Breath and Stop BracingOne of the most beautiful things about breathwork is its ability to bring smoothness, grace, and ease back into our lives. So many of us are holding our breath. We're frozen. We're frozen in our movements, our activities, and our ambitions. Even if we do take steps toward our dreams, we might do so in a stilted, hesitant manner. We brace, as if we're expecting to be slammed by universal resistance. We hold our breath, as if we're about to plunge into freezing cold water. We are going to meet resistance. Things aren't going to go our way. This is life. But that's no reason to be so tense. Being tense doesn't help. Bracing has limited value; softness almost always does better. Flow almost always out performs. It's not outrageous to think the bracing and the breath holding go hand in hand. And that's one of the reasons why attending to the breath is such a beautiful practice. We start to learn about how, why, and when we hold our breath. Our intention to breathe smoothly and easily grows, solidifies, and becomes habitual. The tension embedded in our diaphram starts to release, and that starts to extend into the other muscles associated with our respiration. We relax through our jaw, throat, and torso. The ribs can open. We start to breathe as a way to initiate action. We breathe, we soften, we flow into our activities. We breathe and flow into our lives. As the diaphram loosens, even laughter comes easier, sobbing becomes possible. We flow in and out of our emotional lives. Breathe, my friend. Just BreatheBreathe It InBreathe DeepFree Conversation! - Wednesday May 13th at 4pm Eastern TimePsychedelic Evolution: A Conversation with Jahan Khamsehzadeh and Daniel ShankinThis talk invites us to explore these compounds as powerful supplements and catalysts for transformation - tools that can help us heal trauma, soften the grip of the conditioned ego, and access deeper dimensions of creativity, resilience, and meaning. At their best, psychedelics can illuminate both the personal shadow and the collective shadow, revealing how our individual wounds are intertwined with larger cultural, ancestral, and ecological crises. They offer a unique bridge between neuroscience and spirituality, between therapeutic healing and visionary awakening, helping us reconnect with the larger intelligence of life while also sharpening presence, purpose, and performance. The core of Jahan's dissertation and book, “The Psilocybin Connection”, focus on the idea first proposed by Terence and Dennis McKenna that the symbiotic relationship between humans and psilocybin mushrooms catapulted human evolution. We we explore how this evolution - spiritually, psychologically, emotionally, and physiologically - is still continuing today. When approached with reverence, preparation, and integration, these medicines can become allies in human development - supporting not only personal growth and emotional healing, but the evolution of consciousness itself in service of a more compassionate, awakened, and interconnected world. Free Registration Here Meditation for the Journey 3.0 !!!A new variation of Meditation for the Journey is launching this summer! Starting in 2019, I've taught Meditation for the Journey about 18 times to several hundred enthusiastic spiritual explorers. After a few cohorts, I extended it to six weeks. And now, It's evolved again. I've changed a lot since It first launched, and so has my personal and professional practice. The world has changed a lot, too, and so has the psychedelic community. People who were just considering putting a proverbial toe into psychedelic waters are now exploring the depths. The slightly curious have become guides. Coaching and psychedelic-informed therapy proliferate. People are out of the closet, and the movement is in motion. Folks are showing up with different problems and questions, too. People who once wondered, "Can I do this? What would it mean if I followed my calling?" now wonder, "How can I do better? How can I show up fully for this? How do I deal with my blocks so I can help my clients deal with theirs?" The honeymoon, in some ways, is over, and the people who haven't run for the hills back to corporate are ready to roll up the sleeves of their heart-mind and recommit to clearing out the caves of their karma. So that's what we're going to do. A more practitioner-focused class. Deeper conversations. More training of the mind. More clarification of our values and more exploration of what guides our practice. So, I invite you to have these conversations with me. I think it's going to be awesome. It starts July 7th and runs for six weeks. The classes are from 4 to 6 pm pacific, and 7 to 9 pm Eastern. They are all recorded. Classes are two hours, for a total of 12 hours of class time with several additional video recordings. You'll have a group chat so you can share with your people. We'll also meet for two 30-minute meditations to deepen your practice and have some group accountability. Those are Monday and Wednesday at 9 am Pacific, Noon Eastern It's $450 through June 15th, and then the price raises to $600. So, you're cordially invited to join this special group, and I look forward to seeing you there. Training Info SessionIf you’ve been feeling the pull to support others in psychedelic work, but want to do it in a way that’s grounded, thoughtful, and actually responsible, this is a good place to start. I’m hosting a live info session for the Psychedelic Integration Coach Training. I’ll discuss how we approach integration as a real discipline rooted in mindfulness, somatics, and spiritual practice, not just intuition or good intentions. We’ll talk about what makes someone effective in this role, how the training is structured, who it’s for, and what people actually do with it in their lives and work. There will be time for questions. It’s not a pitch-heavy call. Just a chance to get a clear feel for the training and see if it’s aligned for you. If this is something you’ve been circling, it's worth a conversation. We meet every Thursday at noon eastern, and there are monthly masterclasses as well. There is also a large archive (over 200 hours) of psychedelic education and past talks. The wonderful people who show up share not only their journeys, but the journeys of those they steward. It's become a place of learning, support, accountability, and peer review. Folks are learning some things from me, but they are also learning from each other. We all face unique challenges as we work in this space, and it's great to have a place where we can bring them for non-judgmental feedback and reflection. You're invited. The Conspiracy Theory of Healing This post is about psychedelic integration. Hang in there. I'll get to my point eventually. As our world proliferates with conspiracy theories, we're starting to learn a few things. The first thing we learn is that some of them are true. Deepak Chopra loved hanging out with Jeffrey Epstein, and so did a bunch of other people in various positions of power and reknown. Various creepy and monstrous activities were participated in. We know this to be true now....
The point of psychedelics is not to just do psychedelics. The point of psychedelics is not to just do psychedelics. We know that if we do too many, too often, (or too much too fast) we might end up getting a little weird or a little burnt out. We might end up thinking too many weird thoughts, coming up with strange ideas, like perhaps our entire friend group is comprised of reincarnated healers, shamans, heroes, and warriors of light who chose to come back to earth to fight for goodness and...
Native of Eternity - Rest In Peace, Lorin Roche Lorin Roche changed my life, and on April 18th, he died. I'm very sad about it. I thought I'd get a chance to speak to him again. We chatted a little a few months ago, and I sent him a picture of my kids. I guess that's it. I cried throughout yoga class this morning. I wonder what the teacher thought. I found his work in 2008, when I was starting to dive into the Vijnana Bhairava Tantras, a meditation encyclopedia. While most of the translations...
