Welcome to this Week's Edition of Red Things on Tuesday. Encouraging Regulated CatharsisI meet many people who emerge from their journeys with a sense of urgency and intensity. This is what we will be teaching and practicing during our upcoming retreat. (Spet 26-28) There are ways to be present to the very deeply help pain in our system without it totally wrecking us and leaving us disregulated. This is true for our prep and integration work, as well as for the ceremony itself. We'll look at tools that have been used to create both a deep sense of calm in the nervous system and a pathway to transcendence for hundreds, if not thousands, of years. Yoga Nidra is one such technique. It helps people go beyond the beyond, and come back refreshed and balanced, instead of frazzled. As a preparatory practice, it can't be beat. I also think it works wonders at the beginning of a journey to ease come up anxiety. While this short weekend can't act as a full yoga nidra training, we will have a chance to experience it. We'll also discuss a few key elements you can consider working into your practice. Here's a good, short talk that will intro you to yoga nidra. There will also be a variety of other practices and activities, which you can learn more about on the event info page. On top of that, the food is organic, the land is lush and magical, and it's peak season for watching the changes of the leaves. Reach out if you have any questions. Rest in Peace Ozzy Osbourne Crazy Train was the first song I learned to play on guitar. I don't listen to Ozzy much anymore, since the 'awakening' (HA!) But I can't pretend this doesn't hit hard. I imagine that he's now jamming with Randy Rhoads, his guitarist who passed away long ago, much too young. This song is so guitar-driven and beautifully shows their chemistry. Rest in Peace Joanna Macy Also, a deeply powerful teacher. It’s good to have a niche. It helps us focus on where we put our attention, and who we most want to serve. But the core skills of showing up to be present for someone as they evoke a wiser part of themselves that can see through patterns of sabotage and embody new possibilities, well that transcends niche. It’s something you want your coach to be able to do whether you are talking about psychedelics, relationships, leadership, or anything else. It’s essential. We’re going to detail what we think make for a decent coach. Some of them will have to do with things a coach should be able to ‘DO’. Some of them will have to do with things a coach should ‘BE’. And while you’re here, you’ll get a little bit of a sense about our coaching program, should that be something you’re interesting in attending. You’ll be able to get more of a feel for what we’re offering, and how you’ll grow as a result. ❤️ Tripsitting Training for Friends and Family - Online on zoom (New Date)Friday, August 8th, noon to 3pm Eastern Time Are you interested In supporting your loved ones through a psychedelic experience in a conscious, compassionate, and safe manner? Welcome to this Week's Edition of Red Things on Tuesday. Sometimes I need to unplug my integration. Sometimes, my experiences have been ultra wild, and I’m left scratching my head or shaking in my boots. When that happens, it’s my instinct to overcomplicate things and get all up in my head about it. But that doesn’t help. I need to get out of my head, not go deeper into the confusion. You can’t solve a problem with the same consciousness that created it.These situations ask for simplicity....
Welcome to this Week's Edition of Red Things on Tuesday. There is nothing wrong with you. Try that on for size. A client told me that every time he shared one of his challenges with his old therapist, the therapist would explain it was proof of deep-seated problems. Shame, attachment issues, or some other sort of compulsivity or obsessional behavior. Everything about our friend was broken, or a problem to be solved. After a time, this approach made him more miserable, and he left the...
Welcome to this Week's Edition of Red Things on Tuesday. End of Summer Psychedelic Reading As the seasons change, and the kids get ready to go back to school, it's getting to be time to start cozying up with books. I don't want to brag (I want to brag), but I've got some pretty brilliant friends who have written some pretty great-looking books that have just come out. I'm looking forward to digging into their books, and it's also my pleasure to share them with you as well. In all...
